Hi Coursera, I would like to express my concerns over this course of the program:

Below are the things which I consider the cause of slow and dry nature of this course:

LEARNING OUTCOME WHICH I CONSIDER USEFUL:

1) The learning outcome which I got from this course WHICH I CONSIDER USEFUL is, Structured Thinking, Questions to ask from stakeholders and from myself during the six phases of analysis, Types of problems, Ineffective questions, SMART methodolgy of asking effective questions. Data-inspired decision making, Types of data, Presentation tools, Pivot tables, metric, metric goals, Small data, big data, Spreadsheet info, data life cycle and spreadsheets, Spreadsheet errors and fixes.

LEARNING OUTCOME IN WHICH I CONSIDER MYSELF IN BIT TROUBLE IN DIGESTING THE KNOWLEDGE I GAINED:

1) Scope of work, should be more practice based and practical (giving scenario questions and how to prepare SCOPE OF WORK tempelate for that scenario).

2) Week 4 of this course is not so much appreciated as i found this week's material dry and lots of efforts to understand in one go, please make this week more scenario based, more practical.

This was overall a good course but could use a section on how to construct questions better especially if you are new to analytics, business, finance, etc. Sometimes new people don't have the necessary words and background experience to come up with proper questions or understand which questions would be important in that field due to lack of experience and working knowledge. Having a lot of scenarios and sample questions was extremely helpful but these were provided and did not help me in coming up with my own questions unless I changed a word or two to suit my example, which I didn't want to do as it felt like copying. It would be helpful to learn to word a question properly so that it makes sense to everyone. Also, the section referring to Problem types is very confusing and I struggled to make sense of it, seeing as the list of problem types is more of a list of solutions not the types of problems. I understand the overall picture but it took me ages to get there, I feel like if it was worded in a different way, the overall progress of this course would've been faster.

I believe this course is great, but its lacking more in depth examples of how to properly use SQL, Spreadsheets, Database Systems, Formulas and a few other things. As I have stated before, there needs to be a [live chat] available to speak to someone when in need. As I am new to all of this, I have had problems understanding a few things as mention in the above statements. This is causing me to stop or rethink about this whole course why? If I can not understand fully one stage of course how can I continue moving forward with the rest of the program. I will be lost trying to work at things as they get harder because I don't fully understand even the basic requirements. I won't be able to put things together when the time comes. Its very upsetting for me, I don't seem to get the full story in each stage of the course, this will only lead me to think that I know how to do things, but in reality I don't even no how to do the basic things, I feel so lost at times.

I found that most of the course was trying to remember glossary terms and too much stuff about meetings. I don't think it was that worthwhile to be honest. I'd rather learn more about how to do things in analytics instead of learning acronyms and suggested process steps. I also think some of the questions asked in the quizzes are not worded properly and can lead to the attendee choosing what the test preparer thought was a wrong answer. I disagreed with some of the things the test preparer thought were "wrong" in many cases. Hoping the rest of the course is not like this one and actually shows the attendee how to do things instead of a bunch of lingo and terms that basically just amount to "ask a lot of questions of your stakeholders during a project". The excel/sheets stuff was very basic and I had to put it on 2 times speed just to get through it as it was basic stuff I already knew.

As someone who takes this as a part of the Google Data Analytics certificate, I enrolled in this course with the expectation that I'll get to learn how to ask questions and decide on what kind of data is suitable for each data project. But this only took up about 20% of the course, which is quite disappointing given how they market the certificate as "each course will cover one step of the data analytics journey". Towards the end, it felt like they ran out of things to cover when they started discussing other topics like excel basics, communication or teamwork. While at the same time I still didn't feel totally confident about the "asking questions" component and there are definitely more things that can be covered. I totally understand how these skills are helpful as a data analyst, but don't think the flow of the certificate is working very well.

I learned alot during the course. It still seems a little disconnected between working on a desktop, tablet, and smartphone. It seems the lessons don't update in between those devices.

Also, I missed a question on the final quiz of week 4. The question was about asking questions to get proper data from customers. I missed half a point for NOT selecting an option that did not give a definitive answer on whether the customer was satisfied with the vender's services. I thought we needed to ask questions that extended beyond YES or NO.

That was my only issue with this course. I feel I should've gotten full credit for the question. I also wanted to make sure that I understand that if I retake a test to get 100, do I get that score, or is my grade docked a couple points because I had to retake the quiz?

If you have an undergrad degree or experience in science and working with a spreadsheet, this course info is pretty straightforward. I took the quizzes first and mostly passed before reading through the weekly content. It was boring at times. I feel like it could've been half the length that it is. I do like some of the examples they give, you know, for context :p . I'm going to keep doing the next course in this certificate, hoping for more time/exercises using SQL and databases.

If you have no experience with how to work on a team or how to use a few functions in a spreadsheet or just out of high school, this will be informative. Important vocabulary is repeated throughout the 4 weeks and it is a good intro pace. It's an introduction to some tools and working with a team/supervisors.

I'm giving this portion of the course 3 stars, it bleeds into project management/business analyst too much. While there are some hands on activities doing spread sheet exercises I think it just falls short of what data analysts are suppose to do. I'm on module 3 currently near the end you have to mock up a scope of a project. While it's a good skill to learn, it doesn't benefit us the learners. There's too much of developing right questions for a case study, to me it feels like that's something a business analyst is doing already. I feel it would be better suited to have students really deep dive on how spread sheets work. There's only a small section of it and it lists resources to further read, but there should be more exercises on it.

2,5. Better than the first course in the specialization, but still there is a lot of space for improvement. My main impression is that the course includes a range of not necessarily connected topics which don't really fit into the “ask questions” subject. I think that cooperation & communication topics should be limited to specifically data analyst-related problems. The rest of the topics could be easily included in a separate course on how to cooperate effectively in a work environment and would be applicable to a wider range of jobs.

Similarly as in the first course, a lot of “talking head” videos, almost zero visualizations / gamification. Google Sheet Guided Project was refreshing as a type of activity, but still very basic.

I liked how this course is preparing us for the job and what to expect while at it. However, I feel that it was too soon to introduce us to concepts of meeting, behaviour at work environment etc. Moreover, the course instructor's voice (speech) was not clear and felt monotonus most of the time, and her gestures although forthcoming but were too loud and distractive. Furthermore, the video quality on the day 1 of shoot was unpleasing as the colour temperature was set to be too warm which caused eyes strain after a certain time. This however was not a case on the day 2 of shooting where the temperature was nuetral.
