Welcome to the Introduction to MidJourney course, where you'll begin a journey to gain practical skills in AI art generation and harness the capabilities of Generative AI for creating images.

Throughout this short course, you'll explore the many ways to generate a wide variety of images, from realistic to abstract to surreal, with MidJourney and delve into its various features and functionalities. By the end of this course, you will be able to: - Identify the key features and functionalities of MidJourney. - Generate high-quality images and creative content using MidJourney, applying learned prompt engineering techniques. - Create concept art and character designs using MidJourney, demonstrating proficiency in image generation. - Utilize prompt engineering and ChatGPT to compose prompts with the aim of designing specific, creatively tailored criteria for generating breathtaking images in MidJourney. MidJourney uses a diffusion model, which is a type of AI model that can generate images from scratch. The model is trained on a massive dataset of images and text, and it learns to associate certain words and phrases with specific visual features.

To use MidJourney AI, simply type in a text description of the image you want to generate, and the model will create it for you. The model can generate images in a variety of styles, including realistic, surreal, and abstract. You can also specify the size and resolution of the image you want to generate.

There are many different types of prompts that you can use with MidJourney to generate images. Some of the most common types include:

1) Basic prompts: These prompts are simply descriptive phrases that describe what you want MidJourney to generate. For example, "a cat sitting on a windowsill" or "a landscape with a river and mountains."

2) Advanced prompts: These prompts are more complex and can include specific details about the image, such as the style, composition, lighting, and color. For example, "a photorealistic portrait of a young woman with brown hair and green eyes, smiling and looking directly at the camera" or "a surreal painting of a floating castle in the sky, with a waterfall cascading down its side."

3) Prompt chains: Prompt chains are a series of prompts that you can use to generate a sequence of images. For example, you could start with a prompt like "a man walking down the street" and then follow it up with prompts like "he turns a corner and sees a mysterious door" and "he opens the door and steps inside a strange and wonderful world."

4) Stylized prompts: These prompts are used to generate images in a specific style, such as a painting, sketch, or photograph. For example, "a watercolor painting of a bird in flight" or "a black and white photograph of a city at night."

5) Creative prompts: These prompts are used to generate images that are unusual, imaginative, or even surreal. For example, "a melting clock" or "a giant cat playing with a ball of yarn."

You can also use MidJourney AI to generate images from other images. To do this, you need to provide MidJourney with a URL to the image that you want to use as a prompt. For example, you could prompt MidJourney to generate an image in the style of a particular artist or to generate an image that is similar to another image that you have found online.

Here are a few tips for improving your results with MidJourney:

1) Be specific and descriptive: The more information you give MidJourney, the better it will be able to understand what you want.

2)Use references: If you have a specific image in mind, you can provide MidJourney with a reference image. This will help MidJourney to understand the style and tone that you are looking for.

3) Use keywords and phrases that are relevant to the image that you want to generate.

4) Use collective nouns to describe groups of objects. For example, instead of saying "a group of cats," say "a clowder of cats."

5) Use adjectives and adverbs to describe the style, mood, and composition of the image that you want to generate.

Experiment with different types of prompts to see what works best for you.

MidJourney offers four paid subscription plans:

1) Basic: $10/month

2) Standard: $30/month

3) Pro: $60/month

4) Enterprise: $120/month

Each plan includes a different number of Fast GPU hours, which are used to generate images. Fast GPU hours are more efficient than Relaxed GPU hours so you can generate more images in less time with Fast GPU hours.

The Basic plan includes 3.3 Fast GPU hours per month, the Standard plan includes 15 Fast GPU hours per month, the Pro plan includes 30 Fast GPU hours per month, and the Enterprise plan includes 60 Fast GPU hours per month.

If you run out of Fast GPU hours before the end of your monthly subscription period, you can purchase additional Fast GPU hours for $4/hour.

MidJourney no longer offers a free trial as of March 2023. This is due to the huge number of users who signed up for the trial, which caused the company's servers to become overloaded.

Which plan is right for you depends on how much you plan to use MidJourney. If you are just starting out, the Basic plan is a good option. If you plan to use MidJourney more frequently, the Standard or Pro plan may be a better fit.

If you are a business or organization, the Enterprise plan may be the best option for you. The Enterprise plan includes priority support and other features that are designed for business use.

Access to lectures and assignments depends on your type of enrollment. If you take a course in audit mode, you will be able to see most course materials for free. To access graded assignments and to earn a Certificate, you will need to purchase the Certificate experience, during or after your audit. If you don't see the audit option:

The course may not offer an audit option. You can try a Free Trial instead, or apply for Financial Aid.
The course may offer 'Full Course, No Certificate' instead. This option lets you see all course materials, submit required assessments, and get a final grade. This also means that you will not be able to purchase a Certificate experience.

When you purchase a Certificate you get access to all course materials, including graded assignments. Upon completing the course, your electronic Certificate will be added to your Accomplishments page - from there, you can print your Certificate or add it to your LinkedIn profile. If you only want to read and view the course content, you can audit the course for free.
