[MUSIC] The direct object receives the action of a transitive verb. Usually the direct object is a thing. But if it's a person, in Spanish, it's marked by the preposition a. It's called the personal a. Let's look at an example. [FOREIGN] Las enchiladas is the direct object. I'm going to eat enchiladas. [FOREIGN] Miguel is the direct object, I'm going to see Miguel. In a normal conversation, after the first mention of the direct object, it's often replaced by a pronoun to cut down on the repetitions. The direct object pronouns are identical to the indirect object pronouns and the reflexive pronouns that you've already seen except for the third person, which for the direct object pronouns is lo/la, masculine and feminine singular, and los/las, masculine and feminine plural. As always, place the object pronoun before the verb or attached to the infinitive. Let's look at some examples. [FOREIGN] We play the guitar every day. We play it every day. [FOREIGN]. Let's play it, the guitar, in Juan's band. [FOREIGN]. I want to buy a bombo drum. [FOREIGN] I want to buy it.
