Congratulations.
You made it to the end of the UC Davis course on planned giving
within the fundraising and development specialization on Coursera.
I hope, that what you've learned has been beneficial to
you because I had a lot of fun in developing this course for you.
To recap, in the first module,
you weathered through the exciting world of tax considerations,
charitable gifts and deduction for a donor.
And again, it isn't about being an expert in this area,
it's about being aware so that you are a better steward for your donor.
In the second module,
you learned about common terminology and the various planned giving vehicles.
We also centered on the donor,
how to identify potential planned giving donors,
their goals, and building relationships with them.
In modules three and four,
we switched gears to focus on administration and resources of
planned giving and tools and techniques to use to ensure a donor's legacy is fulfilled.
As you can tell, planned giving is
awesome and should you want to continue on this career path,
I have two pieces of advice: one,
I encourage you to stay active with your local associations.
They are a great way to grow professionally and meet people with the same interests.
And two, find a planned giving officer who would be
willing to become your mentor or allow you to job shadow them.
I'm sure you can find one through your local associations, so start there.
Thank you again for your time and enthusiasm throughout this course.
Good luck with your future endeavors. Until next time.
