[MUSIC] I'm Rins van Kouwen. I'm co-funder and co-owner of Amigos de la Prensa, which is a communication agency for the world of sports. I have a background in Journalism and Communication. I worked for several newspapers and news magazines in sports. Social media is important for top athletes, because you can communicate your own message. You can shape it any way you want. There is no gate keeper in the process, so you decide which message you can bring across to your audience. You can connect with your friends. You can make yourself more visible for sponsors. And above all, you can get connection with your fans. That's also the big advantages of social media. It's not only centered, but it's also, we'll get something back. I think the best athletes on social media are the ones that they have a personal story, and connect with the fans. So there's interaction, and there is original content with videos, and with images to get some new content to your own channel. I think a good example of a social media athlete, is Serena Williams. She has fun, she has a lot of pics, and she does it in a very personal way. I think in that way you can bring some extra to a new platform. We discover the story of an athlete and we can bring it by channels of social media to the outside world. We give strategic advice to sports organizations, sports federations, sport athletes, sport events to communicate with your fans and to get more visibility online. Which platform you should on? Well, the best way is to just use some platforms and see which one is the best for your story. It could be that Instagram is your social media channel, because you like the images. But maybe you like the fast way of Twitter, or The community advantage, or of Facebook. The best way is to do an experiment and see if you like it, because if you like it, then you get the best content. [MUSIC]
