In this short demo, I'll show you how to create a Managed Microsoft Active Directory domain using the Managed Microsoft Active Directory Service in the Google Cloud Platform. In this new project, I need to enable some APIs. To do that, we navigate to the Navigation menu on the left hand side, choose APIs & Services and click Library. There are three APIs we need to enable, the first is the Compute Engine API. The second is the Cloud DNS API and the third, is the Managed Microsoft Active Directory API. In this project, the Compute Engine and Cloud DNS APIs are already enabled, but I'll show you how to enable the Active Directory API. I search for micro, I was going to write Microsoft, but it's already come up with Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory API. I click the API and choose Enable. Enabling APIs takes a few moments. Once the API is enabled, you'll see a Details screen. We're now ready to deploy the Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory. Open the Navigation menu, navigate to Security and then Managed Microsoft Active Directory. Choose CREATE NEW AD DOMAIN at the top of the screen. There are a few pieces of information that we need to provide in order to create a new domain. First, a fully qualified domain name for our Active Directory forest. In this case, I'm choosing ad.sce.run. The NetBIOS name will be automatically filled. We then choose the network that we want to deploy this into. I'll be using the default VPC created when I created the project and enabled the Compute Engine API. I then need to choose a CIDR Range that is not in use in this network. This network range will be used for the Active Directory servers. In this case, I happen to know that 10.10.0.0/24 is a valid range that is not in use in my network. I now choose the Regions that I want to deploy into, for this I will choose europe-west2. I'm then able to choose a Delegated admin, this is an account that can be used to administer your AD domain when it is created. I'm going to to leave the default which is setupadmin. I'll then click CREATE DOMAIN. Google Cloud console tells me that my domain will be available within 60 minutes to me. This seems like an ideal time to go and grab a cup of tea. Checking back to the status of my AD domain I can see it is still in the Creating status. I can click on the fully qualified domain name of the Active Directory domain, and I'm presented with a details screen. This does tell me that my region europe-west2 is currently Unhealthy. That's to be expected, considering I created this not too long ago and it can take up to 60 minutes to create the domain. Let's check back in a little while. All right, you can see now that the status has changed to Ready. This means that our Managed Service for Microsoft Active Directory is available and ready to use. I can once again click on the fully qualified domain name and it will show me that my Region health is Healthy. We've now set up an Active Directory domain using the Managed Service for Active Directory on Google Cloud Platform.
