[MUSIC] Welcome back, learners. We're at the fun stage, to me, of the whole process of assembling a news report. So we've got our topic, we've got our format, we have done the news gathering, we've done the interviews, I hope they went fantastic for you. Now's the time to sit down and put your evidence before you. Your interviews, your documents, whatever else you need to do for your news report. This is the time to really kind of play detective. What do I have? What do I don't have? Do I answer the questions that people need to know? Do I have some amazing quotes that I can't wait to put in my news report? This is where you really need to sit down and be critical. Do you know what you're supposed to be talking about? Did what you gathered during the process support the news report topic that you chose? If it did not, let's say you were doing a news report topic about a new park that was going into your city. And you had initially thought that people would be against the park because of its location. But during the the reporting process and your interviews, people said, we love the park. We can't wait til it gets here. You need to then, in your news report, reflect what your reporting shows. Irresponsible journalists sometimes just drive ahead with whatever they thought their original concept was and make the facts fit the narrative. Please don't do that. You need to reflect what you've learned. That's a simple process in that you just need to be open. You don't need to say that you were wrong. An initial news report topic is simply that. It's the initial guess of what you want to do. You might have a good idea, but things change. Life changes. Facts change. People change their mind. You need to be reflective of that, because if you don't, that's where we get into the trap of being biased. And, as we've talked previously, bias in journalism is a very serious topic. So good luck assembling your news report. Be thoughtful, think about your quotes, think about what you want for a lede. And we can't wait to see what you put together. [MUSIC]
