  • “What is a Teach-Out?

Teach-Outs bring together people from around the world to learn about and address important topics in society. They are free and open online learning events where you’ll hear from diverse experts, discuss and connect with other participants, and consider actions you can take in your own community.

    The Backstory

The Teach-Out series is inspired by historic Teach-Ins of the 1960s and 70s, where people came to learn together and discuss important problems with the goal of creating change. The first Teach-in was in March 1965. Rather than walking out of class for sit-ins (a form of protest), University of Michigan faculty held “Teach-Ins” where people discussed the Vietnam War draft for one full day and through the night.
