Claire M. Germain, J.D.

Bio

Claire M. Germain is the Clarence J. TeSelle Professor of Law & Associate Dean for Legal Information, Frederic G. Levin College of Law. She is Professor Emerita, Cornell Law School, where she was the Director of the Dual J.D. Degree Programs, Paris & Berlin. She holds law degrees from the University of Paris and Louisiana State University, as well as a degree in German. In 2007, she received the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur (Knight, French Legion of Honor) medal in Paris, for her efforts in bridging the U.S. and French legal cultures. She has published several books and numerous articles, including the award-winning Germain's Transnational Law Research. She has been a consultant for the United Nations Permanent International Criminal Court, The Hague; the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico, and United Nations International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, Arusha, Tanzania. She has served as an expert witness on French law. She teaches courses in French Law, Comparative Law, and European Union Law, and is a specialist in legal research. She was recently elected to the International Academy of Comparative Law and has served as President, American Association of Law Libraries, and is currently the Chair of the Law Libraries Section, International Federation of Library Associations (IFLA).
