Dr. Cheryl R. Dennison Himmelfarb is Associate Professor at the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing, Department of Acute and Chronic Care and the School of Medicine’s Division of Health Sciences Informatics, and a Core Faculty member in the Armstrong Institute for Patient Safety and Quality. She directs the The Helene Fuld Leadership Program for the Advancement of Patient Care Quality and Safety. This innovative program is designed to prepare a select group of nursing undergraduates for future leadership at the bedside and in other care settings, who have exceptional competencies for promoting quality and safety. In addition, she is a deputy director of the Johns Hopkins Institute for Clinical and Translational Research (ICTR). Dr. Dennison Himmelfarb’s research involves developing and testing interventions to promote self care and reduce cardiovascular risk among high risk populations in the acute care and community settings. She has been investigator or principal investigator on many NIH-and foundation-funded trials testing interdisciplinary models of care and telehealth-based interventions. She has over 70 publications and has presented on issues in improving the quality of care and outcomes at local, national, and international scientific meetings.
